Illinois 5Essentials:

If you haven’t already done so, please take a few minutes to complete the Illinois 5Essentials Survey.  The survey provides us with valuable insight from parents that help in our improvement planning.  Without adequate participation rates, we will not receive our survey results. The survey can be easily accessed from the Families & Students tab on the D123 homepage.

Bingo Night:

Kolmar’s PTA is hosting a Family Bingo Night on Friday, January 19th at 6:00 p.m.  There will be a donation table for the Treasure Chest Foundation; they are looking for unwrapped gifts or $5.00 gift cards. Hope to see you there!

One Community:

Our next One Community Dialogue is scheduled for January 24th at 6:30 p.m.  Parents and families are encouraged to join us for a discussion on the topics of diversity and inclusion, as it relates to accepting, respecting, and valuing our differences.

Parent University:

There are two Parent University sessions coming up.  On 1/18 Hannum is hosting “A Parent Primer for 5th Grade Families.” Representatives from Robert Crown will share information with parents about their program for 5th graders.  On 1/30, OLHMS is hosting “How Much Sleep Does My Child Need”.  Both sessions begin at 6:30 p.m.

Birthday Books:

Please consider sending in a new, hardcover book (appropriate for grades K-5) to honor your child’s birthday that will go in the Kolmar Library. The PTA will put a label in the book that will recognize your child’s birthday. Any questions please email

Skating Event:

The D123 PTA/PTO/PTSA Family Skating Event is Friday, February 16th at the Oak Lawn Ice Arena, 9320 S. Kenton from 12:00-1:45 pm.  Skating costs $5.00 p/p and $3.00 p/p for skate rental (or you can bring your own).  If you need to rent skates, you pay for those at the ice arena.  Skates go quickly, so come early.  Any proceeds from the event benefit the PTA Council Scholarship Fund.
